Reading Time: 5 minutes

In Africa, church attendance is a big deal, you can’t call yourself a Christian and stay at home on Sunday because its the day of the Lord has made- a popular phrase that is shared among Christian Pentecostals.

You will also hear: “Do not forsake the assembly of the saints” a strong Bible passage urging believers to meet up in a place of worship on a weekly basis.

Millions around the world are associated with a church denomination and proud about their church’s motto.

In our church, our pastor, man of God said: “My time has come”, it is my year of flourishing”, “I will storm the gates” you will comes across such messages worse some churches even have marketing stickers to promote their church organisation.

In the midst of all this, they are a few people who have had enough of church and stay at home but the mega-churches show no sign of stopping anytime soon as they grow in numbers daily.

In Nigeria and other African countries, the state of the Pentecostal charismatic church has reached its peak when it comes to deceptive teachings on financial prosperity with sowing of seeds, tithes, birthday’s gifts for the clergyman and selling of believers possessions to receive a miracle from God.

The ‘tithes’ is religiously practiced by millions around the world but it has been explained countless times the paying of tithes to be an Old Covenant practice. Believers today are no longer under the law and do not have to pay a certain amount of money to their pastors.

If you are still wondering which church to attend just look around and you will realize that there is no church in Africa because the continent is a poor and wretched but the religious leaders are the ones balling in riches.

The best thing to do right now if you are in search of a place to worship is to seek God in house-fellowships and do what is right in the sight of God.

If you have been at home for many years because you don’t know where to go, you are not living in sin and God knows exactly what is happening.

Follow God’s leading and obey his voice because pastors are not custodians of the believers they have twisted scriptures to enrich themselves at the expense of the poor people.

God has definitely appointed pastors to enable believers to become mature in the word of God but when they ask you for money don’t let them get hold of it because this is not what Jesus taught while he was still on earth.

Finally, help the poor, orphan and widows and stay away from fake pastors and false doctrines in these end of days.
