In Nigeria the rise of baby factories is where children are exchanged for monetary gains. This is an unlawful practise that is still popular in the country.
A couple in Anambra state named Chinonso and Uluebube have been apprehended for selling their three-day-old baby for the sum of £600 local currency NGN 300000.
According to a statement released by the command’s PRO, SP Haruna Mohamed said around 2 pm on Tuesday, April 30, Police agents attached to Area Command Ihiala swung into action and arrested on Chinonso 32, and his wife Uluebube 20 for conspiring to sell their child based on intelligence gathered.
He further explained that the suspects connived to sell their own baby to one Sandra Odimege of Umuezike, Amorka in Ihiala Local government of Anambra.
The police command spokesman concluded that the case is still being investigated and would be charged to court for appropriate punishment if found guilty.
