A married couple that got engaged a week after dating and have a 25-year age difference between them are slamming haters who say they must be “joking” about their relationship.
Areil Duncan, 28, met her love, Steven, 53, on a dating site and thought at the beginning that the turf equipment technician was too old for her but they bonded a few weeks later.
They first met in December 2016; the couple became an item officially on New Year’s Eve and got engaged within a week later.
However, during the two-years they have been together, the couple has received a lot of backlash on daily basis with people judging their choices. Some people even ask whether they are joking because they think Steven is Areil’s dad most of the time.
Areil, who is a teacher opened up that she originally didn’t want a relationship with a man with such an age gap, but she fell in love and she has found happiness in Steven ever since then.
She said they are happy together and will soon start trying to have kids.
Areil continued “We want people to know in as much as you are both consenting adults; there is no reason that age should be considered between two lovers.
She said when they start making babies, she hopes that they won’t get to listen to all the bad comments they are receiving presently.
Age is just a figure, we have happiness and true love and that is all what that matters. This kind of stigma should be distanced from a normal society.
